Queen of the Mountain... 155/1000

Image
Two rides under my bib shorts done  and a 'Queen of the Mountain' award appeared on my Strava. I'm ignoring the fact that I am last out of 5 people but it does mean I'm the fastest female to plough up a blinking long hill... 4.4 miles of hills - yuck! On my second attempt, I managed to knock nearly 6 minutes off this (albeit I didn't stop for happy snaps and a drink half way up). Nevertheless, it was quite an achievement for me cycling uphill for over 4 miles without stopping. Go me! Last view before tackling The Hill Beautiful rape seed fields Big Red struggling at the back That was blinking hard! Monday's ride was not enjoyable, I felt a bit of a failure when cycling as it felt like I was unable to do the hills again; not sure what happened but I was not a happy bunny. I was determined to go and harder and stronger on Tuesday which I did, but the times/results didn't really show this!! Oh well, 155 miles done and dusted. Love a...

Love Herefordshire.... Loathe Hills..... 121/1000

Not the best of starts to our ride with a rather painful derriere! Little Red has managed to damage my right buttocks.... a little painful and obviously a lot of sympathy from Big Red.... or not! Little Red's Phone Box 'A nice gentle ride with one hill' he said..... um forty thousand hills later and we're home. Still on the plus side there were some gorgeous views including a nice red phone box for Little Red. So on we trundled (bottom being very sore at this point), up more blinking hills and down less hills! Herefordshire does look gorgeous in the sunshine with the lambs and calves bouncing around in the fields. At least I managed to get some happy snaps of Big Red in his Lycra and took some lovely pics of the view... through sweat dripping down my face! End of yet another hill.... Big Red in his lycra Endless countryside No more blinking hills for at least a week please! Oh and I did fall off outside the house after hittin...

100 miles

Little Red has achieved 100miles! I'm a little bit chuffed with how well I'm doing on Little Red at the moment. We have ridden 7 times and Strava has told me 100 miles has passed... what an achievement. I have conquered some brutal hills (Big Red thinks they are gentle slopes....) if they were ski runs, they'd be classed as black. But along the way, I've learnt some tricks to help: 1. If I take my bum slightly off the seat up hills... I go faster 2. If I stay in as high a gear as possible and only go down when I can't take it any more... I go faster 3. If I wear padded shorts.... my lady area doesn't hurt when going for a wee 4. I can become Hillimenia the Conqueror I'd say number 3 is by far the biggest achievement. Hitting that 100 mile mark I also decided that every 100 miles, I'd take some pictures,  be prepared to offend your eyes... End of term cycle ride Little Red Ride! Two days ago I had a lovely chat with our TA a...

Tears and Tantrums

Welcome to the first post for my very own little blog called 'Little Red Rides'. So here it begins.......  my journey from flabby to fabulous with a little help from my 'Little Red' also known as my bike. Earlier this year, Big Red suggested in jest that we enter a cycling sportive in September... 65 miles up the Malvern Hills.....,  my heart plummeted, beads on sweat appeared but I was determined not to be beaten and so I agreed; the Malvern Mad Hatter it was! At this point, I didn't even have a bike let alone the fitness to get over a speed bump - let alone the Malvern Hills. Fast forward a week and Big Red surprised me with Little Red....... 'Bugger', I thought, no excuse now. Little Red joins Big Red and Racing Red I was quite content sitting up a blanket on the sofa doing crochet - hmm think that was going to have to change. Since then, Little Red and I have hit the 100 mile mark and hills are less of a barrier.  This blog is about my jour...
